About Me

I am a microbial ecologist by training, receiving my Ph.D. from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. My research interests lies in ocean and human health in a time of change. While I don't teach any formal lecture or laboratory courses now, I mentor both undergraduate and graduate students in research.

However, the majority of my time is spent on administrative roles. I serve as an Associate Dean for the College of Science and Technology for Research and Graduate Studies, the Director for the NAS 91°µÍø Gulf Scholars Program, and as the Center Director for the NOAA Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems led by 91°µÍø. All of these roles allow me to engage and train the next generation of problem solvers.
